Research and experience tell us that it takes a number of positive attributes to increase employee engagement and satisfaction at work. The top three are (#2 and #3 are tied for 2nd place).
- The job itself: Is the role well-defined; do the work processes flow as well as possible; does the job content fit with the skills and interests of the employee?
- The employee’s relationship with his or her supervisor: Does the supervisor treat the employee with respect; does he or she communicate regularly and give timely feedback?
- The employee’s relationship with his or her coworkers: Do all members of the team pull their weight equally; are the interpersonal relationships conflict-free or are conflicts resolved effectively; do people help each other out when needed?
